i never left Texas. i love sharp thick grass that leaves distinct pink marks on young thighs. i love when its hot, so hot that yer ass burns when you sit down on the concrete sidewalk waiting for the bus. i like flat land that goes on forever and overfed cows with big doe eyes that stare and chew. i like cows in general, fly a cow. i love their soft pink noses with little beads of moisture and snot on them. i like how the highway is straight and the scenery unchanging for miles and miles. Texas hill country is something i adore. i love that the ice cream man in his dirty, once white pedophile van sells weed out of the back. something for everyone, you know? i like mudpits full of cow shit, and horse shows, and those rare days that i know i look good. i love the way boys look at me when i've done something right, on that one day when my girly pudge is unseen and my makeup unsmudged. i love the nitty gritty dirt band, the del mccoury band, johnny cash and the sounds of summer with frogs, crickets, and a steamy haze of humidity obstructing my view of the stars. i love being held. and the ferocious but once inside, the gentle purr of the diesel engine. i am a big fan of radio control. i love taking long walks at 3 in the morning, riding bikes 40 miles to my neighborhood, having applesauce thrown in my face, and fighting crime. i like having the security of one best friend, a partner in crime, someone to help me carry my baggage. to laugh with, till our sides hurt and we're rolling on the ground. the pause, and deep sigh that almost always follows a good laugh. i love tom, more than anything, and sammie, my confidant, in that they are the best things that have happened to me since i've moved here...although in my mind, i never left. i love my skank, my crime fighin' pips, my lamb. i live for her forever.
